IH CNC Mills & Machinery Videos
Movies of IH Machining Parts for our CNC System
These Movies were taken to show how we manufacture our own parts on our own IH CNC Mills. The IH Mill shown in most of these movies is an older 10Z IH Mill that was the prototype for the new 12Z Mill. It has a 3HP VFD Belt Drive that has a spindle speed of 3900 RPM. Our new 12Z Turnkey Gear Head CNC Mill with the 3HP VFD option will perform all of these programs as well or better with a feed reduction of only 8 percent, due to the rpm difference ,3900rpm vs 3600rpm at the spindle. (ex.76ipm becomes 70ipm cutting speed) With rapids of up to 120ipm and the 25% added rigidity of the new 12Z Mill, numbers like these are a reality.
We hope you enjoy the movies, they were made for that purpose. Using fixtures is a big part of how we do things here at IH and if you want to know the basics of pinning and making fixtures, go to our Mill Tips section to see how we do it.
The new testing videos were taken on a Standard IH CNC Mill that was shipped 2-25-09. Spindle speed tested with our Ametek Digital Strobe was 3628rpm actual, which is standard
for our VFD Option. All cuts made were with a 1/2" 3 Flute carbide endmill from CID Performance Tooling, Saco, Maine.
This is the same endmill we use on all the other video's and in general. Notice how quiet the new 12Z Head is.
